ABERYSTWYTH Town are looking to bounce back from narrow back-to-back 1-0 defeats when they welcome Caernarfon to Park Avenue on Friday (ko 7.45pm).
The Seasiders were undone by sub James Davies’ 86th minute strike at Cefn Druids last Friday, but there were positives to take from a solid display away from home.
“I think all of the boys are very disappointed,” said assistant manager Gavin Allen. “I thought we controlled large parts of the game, but the goal they scored was a killer, we’ve gone down the pitch, but it was a long ball and great finish from the lad.
“It was very disappointing, we should have been a lot tighter. It was a better performance than last week, but there are things to improve.
“There were two penalty situations, especially the first one on Ash (Ruane), which was a blatant push, but unfortunately we did not get it.
“Overall, we worked hard and we made it difficult for them, but we didn’t create that much. They have got a young boy in goal, and we have not really tested him.”
The Seasiders will be keen to snap out of their recent dip in results, which also includes their exit from the Nathaniel MG Cup, as they host Caernarfon on Friday.
Aber are four points adrift of their sixth-placed opponents, who held Bala Town to a 2-2 draw last Friday, but Allen was not concerned with results elsewhere.
“The biggest thing is that we get our house in order, we are three games without a win,” said the assistant boss. “It will be a tough game against Caernarfon, but on our day we can beat anybody. We were far tighter tonight, and there were some very good performances.
“In the final third, we made some wrong decisions at key times, but it’s something to work on Tuesday, and we’ll roll on to play Caernarfon.”
Meanwhile Aberystwyth have re-appointed Neville Powell to the post of first team manager, after Seamus Heath resigned in August.
Powell, who has been running the team as a director of football, is applying to attend a Pro Licence course, which will satisfy the UEFA Licensing requirements.
