ABERYSTWYTH Town have confirmed the signing of former Swansea City, Wrexham and Wales Under 21 international Dan Alfei, following his release from the Swansea City in the summer.

Defender Alfei started his career at his home town club, making his professional debut in a 4-0 FA Cup victory against Colchester United in 2011.

He has a wealth of experience, having enjoyed loan spells at Wrexham, Portsmouth, Northampton Town and most recently Mansfield Town in League Two.

The full back has also represented his country at Under 17s, 19s and 21s level, amassing 37 caps in the process.

He is renowned for his excellent defensive work and is not afraid to get forward, scoring four goals at international level in the process.

The 24 year-old goes straight into Matthew Bishop’s squad ahead of Saturday’s fixture against The New Saints at Newtown’s Latham Park this Saturday.

In other club news, the Aberystwyth Town FC has decided to celebrate its new 3G pitch with a Legends’ match, on Friday, 7 October (ko 6.30pm).

It will be the first ever match played on the new surface, and whilst a number of Legends have already confirmed their participation - further places are available to supporters regardless of ability, for £20.

Last May, the Club gave supporters the chance to play alongside Black and Green Legends in the last ever game on the Park Avenue turf - and the event, known as Leave Your Mark, was a big success.

The first Welsh Premier League match on the 3G pitch will be played on Friday, 14 October against Rhyl.

Meanwhile an agreement has been reached with Gap Connah’s Quay to move their fixture at Park Avenue from the Sunday, 6 November to Saturday, 5 November, with a 2.30pm kick-off.
