ON a good day for the Costcutter Ceredigion League clubs, Lampeter Town coasted to an emphatic 6-1 win at Penrhyncoch Reserves in the first round of the Cwpan Coffa Dai ‘Dynamo’ Davies.
Gethin Hunter opened the scoring for the visitors with a cool finish, and skipper Luke Lovell hit a quick fire hat-trick to put his team almost out of sight.
Scott Davies won a penalty after the break, which Terry Witts calmly converted, and Gethin Hunter rounded the keeper to get his second goal, before Penrhyn replied with a good consolation effort from distance from Kylie Chillery.
Llandysul also emerged as comfortable 4-0 winners at Tregaron Turfs with another good all round performance.
The visitors opened their account on 10 minutes when Scott Thomas was upended in the box, and Dean Jones tucked away the penalty.
Adrian Hazelby made it 2-0 when he scored from acute angle, and when Ben Thomas scored their third goal the tie looked over.
After the break Terry Maynard finally banished any thoughts of a Turfs comeback as he hit a 20 yard volley into the roof of the net.
Cilgerran Rovers recovered from being two goals down against Dewi Stars after half an hour to win 6-3.
The Stars went two goals up through Ryan Hurrell and veteran Andrew Jones, but Cilgerran replied through Dan Bellis and John Williams before the interval.
They put the tie beyond their visitors with a three goal burst in the first five minutes of the second half, with the first of these from John Williams, followed by two goals by Gary Evans.
A further goal from Ollie Evans sealed a well deserved win for the hosts, although Jones added a third goal for the Stars late on.
Aberporth enjoyed a solid 5-2 win over Machynlleth Reserves at the RAE ground.
The Airmen went ahead when 18-year old Dan Davies fired home a fine strike, and Johnny Kinsella added two more well-crafted goals.
Chris Jones and Craig Wilkes sealed a convincing win, whilst Machynlleth replied through goals by Steff Williams and Dave Jones.
Keeper Sion Clifton was the star of the show as Padarn held their nerve to beat Ffostrasol on penalties, after finishing all square at 4-4.
Paul James scored two stunning 25 yard screamers, and Tegid Owen also netted twice for Padarn to take the take the game to spot kicks.
Clifton saved three penalties in the shoot-out after a man of the match display - and centre back Steve Jones slotted the winning penalty.
Earlier, a Iolo Thomas effort and two good goals from Dion Phillips forced extra time for Ffostrasol, and a Marc Bowen equaliser took the game to spot kicks.
Crannog were far too good for Llanon as brothers Rhys and Dylan Davies both bagged hat-tricks and Mathew Smith also hit four goals in an emphatic 13-1 rout.
Others to score were Steffan Jones, with two goals, and skipper Mike Glover.
Pencader faced Bow Street Reserves without a number of key players, but they still managed a 3-2 away win.
Street were two goals clear at the break through Gerwyn Evans and Marc Loosley, but in the second half two goals by Ashley Summers and a winner by Daniel Jones turned the tables.

Goals by Rhys Jones and Chris Jones were cancelled out by Jay Shae and Rhydian Davies, but the Saints snatched victory when Marcus Dean got a late winner.
Dewi Sion Evans scored a hat-trick and Andrew Carree netted twice as Cambrian Tyres League leaders Bont beat Maesglas 5-0.
Talybont beat Llanboidy 2-1, with Callum Pritchard’s first goal being cancelled out by Celt Thomas Jones, before Chris Wylde scored the winner with a powerful header into the top corner.
