Bala Town have continued to build their squad for the forthcoming JD Cymru Premier season with the addition of 26 year old midfielder Lassana Mendes, who spent last season at Colwyn Bay.

Named as the Supporters’ Player of the Year and Manager’s Player of the Year whilst at Colwyn Bay, Lassana has recently been on trial at Crewe Alexandra.

Representing Spanish second division clubs Cadiz, CD Roquetas and PV EJido whilst in Spain, Mendes arrived in England, where he has played for both Radcliffe Borough and Stalybridge Celtic, before moving to Colwyn Bay in September 2017.

Also joining the Lakesiders for next season is 22 year-old Louis Robles, who is a centre forward that has signed from Spanish side San Roque de Lepe.

Starting out at Liverpool aged nine, he spent eight years there, before a move to Wigan Athletic when he was 16.

Two loan spells followed at Macclesfield and then Gloucester City, prior to a move to the US to represent Limestone Saints in College football, where he was named Freshmen of the Year.

Louis had a short spell at Bangor City, and then moved to Spain to play for Atletico Baleares and then San Roque de Lepe. After a season overseas, Robles joined League Two outfit Grimsby Town, before a return to San Roque de Lepe.

Midfielder Steve Leslie has also joined the Maes Tegid club from Newtown, after featuring for the Lakesiders throughout their pre-season campaign.

The 31 year old was born in Glasgow, but was brought up in Shrewsbury and still lives there now. He came through the youth ranks at Shrewsbury making over 100 appearances for the Salop.

From there, he had spells at Hereford United, Wrexham and AFC Telford, before a move to coach football in Australia. On his return to the UK he has appeared for Worcester City, Solihull Moors, Sutton Coldfield, Corby Town and then Newtown.

Former Football League midfielder Lee Molyneux also joined Bala last month. The left-footer hails from Merseyside and has numerous caps for England at Under 16, 17 and 18 level to his name.

Starting his career at Everton, he has plenty of Football League experience after spells at Southampton, Plymouth Argyle, Accrington Stanley, Crewe, Rochdale, Tranmere Rovers with more recent appearances for Morecambe, Guiseley and Barrow.

His stand out season came was during the 2008/09 campaign when he notched 9 goals in 31 appearances to help Accrington avoid relegation from League Two. His spell in non-league also saw him help Chorley reach the end of season National League North play-offs.

Defender Jonny Spittle was the Lakesiders’ first summer signing. The 24 year-old was released by Connah’s Quay following the end of the season.

His early career started at Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers and Rochdale before a switch to the Welsh Premier League.

He has had spells at Airbus, Llandudno and Aberystwyth prior to a move to the Nomads in January 2018 with 16 starts for the Deeside outfit.

Bala have also captured the signature of highly-rated goalkeeper Josh Tibbetts.

The 21 year-old hails from the West Midlands, and began his career at Birmingham City, spending 11 years with the Blues.

In May 2017, he switched to Peterborough United, going on loan to Solihull Moors and Royston Town, before a move to Southport last season.

The tall commanding shotstopper has featured in all of Town’s pre-season games, which has earned him a contract from the Lakesiders’ management for the forthcoming season.
