PORTHMADOG manager Craig Papirnyk says he is delighted to have secured the services of Cai Jones and Shaun Cavanagh, who have both returned from JD Cymru Premier club Caernarfon Town.
Jones started in Porthmadog's narrow 1-0 JD Cymru North defeat to Llandudno last weekend, and Papirnyk hopes that he can play a key role in reviving their fortunes in the second half of the season.
"Cai is one of our own, so for him to come back is a massive lift to us all," said Papirnyk. "He’s excited about coming back, and really wants to help us out of the position we are currently in.
"He knows what it means to wear the red and black shirt, and he’s a Port lad with passion for the club that is ingrained in him. He will add a huge amount of quality to the squad, and strengthen our attacking line up.
"I would like to thank Sean Eardely who has been fantastic in the transfer, and Caernarfon for speeding through the process so that Cai could come straight into the squad to play against Llandudno."Papirnyk further strengthened his squad this week, with the return of Shaun Cavanagh.“It is with great pleasure that I can announce Shaun has returned to the club," said the Porthmadog boss.“Shaun was last season’s top scorer, and was a player in form, which naturally attracted plenty of attention in the summer."He was given an opportunity to play at a higher standard and moved to Caernarfon. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out for him like he would’ve wished, but that is now our gain.“He is hungrier than ever and can’t wait to get back playing for the club again.“He will further enhance our attacking options, and along with John Owen, Josh Davies and Cai Jones, we now have one of the best option up front in the league.“We will need them all from now until the end of the season, that is for sure."Meanwhile Porthmadog have parted company with Ilan ap Gareth, who has taken the decision to join Rhyl, and Mel McGinness, who has moved on to Llangefni Town."Ilan joined Port from Cefn Druids last summer after a period with the club on loan, and we thank him for his efforts and wish him the best for the future," said Papirnyk. He added: “It hasn’t worked out in the way Mel would have liked, and he needs to now go and find more regular football.“I can’t fault Mel since I’ve been back at the club, he’s been great with everything and I would like to wish him all the success with his next club."
