BALA Town have confirmed that striker Phil Marsh has signed for the Lakesiders on the eve of the new Dafabet Welsh Premier campaign.
The 29-year-old St Helens-born striker is a product of the Manchester United academy and made one appearance for the Reds in the League Cup.
Marsh then moved on to Blackpool, before dropping into non-league football and playing for Northwich Victoria, Hyde United, Leigh Genesis, FC United of Manchester, Stalybridge Celtic, Forest Green, Hereford United, Guiseley, Barrow, Salford City and Ashton United.
He first arrived in the Welsh Premier with Cefn Druids in December 2014, scoring three goals from 10 appearances for the Ancients, but injury has kept him sidelined for some time since then.
A strong target man, Marsh scored for the Lakesiders against South Liverpool and has featured in all of Bala’s pre-season friendlies.Bala Town have also strengthened this summer by signing Welsh Premier Golden Boot Chris Venables and defender Stuart Jones from Aberystwyth Town, midfielder Jamie Crowther from Connah’s Quay, and right back Lee Jones from Airbus UK Broughton.The Lakesiders also announced this week that midfielder Kenny Lunt has penned a new deal with the club.
Having previous played for Crewe Alexandra, Sheffield Wednesday and Hereford United, the midfielder joined the Lakesiders in 2012 and has made 71 (+27) appearances and scored 10 goals.
Defender John Irving, however, will miss the start of the season after undergoing an operation on his collarbone. He will hopefully be back in training in September ready for a return by the start of October.
