ABERYSTWYTH footballer Lowri Walker is heading to the USA this summer to take up a prestigious football scholarship.
Lowri, who is a former pupil at Penglais School, will be joining Queens University, located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
She will study and play for the Royals team, and have the chance to combine her University studies with playing high level football for the next four years.
The scholarship was gained through the assistance of PASS4Soccer Scholarships.
Lowri, who also attended St Padarn’s Primary School, said she was delighted to have secured her soccer scholarship.
It comes in recognition of her academic achievements and huge potential in the sport - having also impressed in the PASS4Soccer US Coach Showcase at Bisham Abbey Sports Centre in December 2015.
Lowri had previously played for Bow Street Juniors, and received recognition as the Player of the Tournament at the club’s popular festival of football. She moved on to play for Shrewsbury Town, and then stepped up to Aston Villa’s girls’ squad, where she has been a key member for several seasons. Lowri has also represented the Aberystwyth Town Ladies team.
