ABERYSTWYTH University let slip an early lead as they went down 4-1 at home to Dyffryn Banw in the MMP Mid Wales League division two at Vicarage Field.
Their early pressure had paid off when Liam Powell planted a free-kick into the bottom corner of the net - but Banw hit back when Rhodri Jones powered home a header, and Jamie Huxley made it 2-1 when he nodded in another set-piece.
The students battled back well, but another Banw corner found Huxley again unmarked to volley home from six yards, and after seeing a strike hit the underside of the bar, the students’ hopes ended when Alwyn Jones fired the fourth goal.
Borth United hit back from being two goals down to earn a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw away at Waterloo Rovers.
The Welshpool hosts had taken control with goals from Michael Jones and Charlie Proctor, and for the second consecutive match Borth were chasing a two goal deficit going into the second half.
They came out strongly for the second half, however, and Bryn McGilligan Oliver and Guto Huws both netted to earn the visitors a deserved share of the spoils.
Machynlleth lost 2-1 at Abermule, where Dyfrig Rees opened the scoring for the hosts with a long range effort, before a Tommy Jones header sealed the win, with Simon Davies netting for Mach.
Hay St Mary’s lost 3-1 at Four Crosses, where a brace from the in-form Jamie Evans and a Ben Simms goal saw the hosts three goals up at the interval, before the Saints replied, courtesy of an own goal.
Tommy Murphy scored four times as Presteigne won 6-1 at Newbridge, with Ewan Rhodes and Jamie Davies also netting. Matt Meredith replied for Bridge.
David Edwards and Sion Lloyd earned Dolgellau a 2-2 draw at Rhayader. Jamie Evans and Gareth Hughes scored replies.
