ABERYSTWYTH University missed a chance of going third in the Spar Mid Wales division two as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Dolgellau.

Dolgellau ran out deserving winners with goals by Dominic Thomas and substitute Kieran Jones, moving them level on points with the fourth-placed students, with three games in hand.

In the ER Jenkins Division Two Cup, unbeaten league leaders Builth Wells marched on with a 4-3 win away at Brecon Northcote.

Goals from Jonny Samuel, Josh Price, Jack Hammond and Sean Powell sealed the win, despite replies by Liam McNally, Jordan Ingram and Rory Miles-Roberts.

Elsewhere, birthday boy David Anthony secured the points for Abermule in a 1-0 win over Dyffryn Banw.

Tom Gale scored twice for Llansantffraid in their 5-1 win over Talgarth, with Bryn Jones, Shane Kriek and Aled Jones also scoring. Talgarth had pulled one back through Harry Sharman from the penalty spot.

Captain Luke Williams and Stuart Buckley Robins netted for Montgomery as they beat Presteigne 2-0, whilst an Aaeron Powell brace and goals from Jake Bufton and Lyndon Jones saw Newbridge-on-Wye beat Penybont 4-2, despite two goals by Sion Herman.Read the full report in this week's Cambrian News
