ABERYSTWYTH University are still looking for their first points in the MMP Mid Wales League division two this season after succumbing 3-0 at high-flying Montgomery - their sixth straight defeat.

Luc Thomas went close for the students, but Montgomery took an interval lead, and despite Nathan Ash forcing a goalline clearance in the second half, Monty scored twice in the last 10 minutes to move up into third position in the table.

Goals from Robbie Hartshorn, Luke Tanner and Alec Jones secured the win, and the students will be hoping for better fortunes this weekend when they travel to Welshpool to face Waterloo Rovers.

In the only other division two match played, Four Crosses left it late to beat Dyffryn Banw 3-2, for their fourth win.

Goals from Kyle Wilson and Jake Edwards, from the penalty spot, cancelled out goals by Tom Foulkes and Gerallt Evans for Banw, but Steve Pugh snatched the winner with just five minutes left.Meanwhile Aberdyfi moved within two points of Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth District League division two leaders Penrhyncoch Thirds with an action-placed 6-4 win at Dolgellau Reserves.Richard Winchurch and Mike Rees both scored twice, with Brandon Kent and Will Kendall also netting for the visitors, who were aided by a first half penalty save by keeper Ian Horton.Daniel Thomas, Callum Tugman, Reece Owen, Darryn Jones got on the scoresheet for Dolgellau. Murray Pugh scored twice as Llanilar Reserves notched a solid 5-0 home win over Padarn United Reserves, with Ioan Jones, Steff Huxtable and Tom Constantine also finding the net.A Gytis Pivnikas brace and a Liam Powell goal earned Aberystwyth University Reserves a 3-1 win against Machynlleth Reserves in division one.• Machynlleth’s first team bowed out of the Central Wales Senior Challenge Cup as goals from Tom Francis and Josh Gethin earned Forden a 2-0 win.
