TALYBONT progressed to the semi-finals of the Len and Julia Newman Memorial Trophy with a hard fought 3-2 victory over neighbours Bow Street Reserves.

The Magpies went ahead through a Stephen Harrison header, but the visitors hit back with goals from Jamie Morgan, Callum Pritchard and Bari Southgate. The hosts netted late on through Shaun Jones, but the visitors held on.

Drew Page netted six goals as Machynlleth Reserves took the spoils in an 8-5 thriller in Llanilar, in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth District League.

Page, who had netted for the first team in midweek, led the way with a stunning double hat-trick, and Joseph Bell and Michael Price also found the net, to seal their fourth league win.

Llanilar had equalised twice in the first half through Ryan Hopkins, his second goal coming from the penalty spot, but Mach were 3-2 up at half-time.

Page took centre stage to earn Mach the points in the second half, despite Llanilar replying with further goals by Dylan Evans, an own goal and Huw Bonner, who made it 6-5 at one stage.

Aberystwyth University Seconds continued to climb the division one table as they made it seven league wins in a row with a solid 5-1 win at Padarn United.

The scoreline was 1-1 at half time, but four unanswered second half goals sealed another win for the University.

Gytis Pivnickas netted twice for the students, with singles by Shaun Roberts, George Taylor, and Nathan Ash.

Matt Parry had netted in the first half for Padarn, before they slipped to their seventh league defeat after the break.

Jake Bush scored a hat-trick as Borth United Reserves registered their third league win of the season with a 4-2 win over Aberdyfi. Tony Mainwaring also found the net as Borth took the spoils.

Aberystwyth University Thirds notched a convincing 3-0 home win over Padarn United Reserves in their Second Division Trophy group match.

Newly-elected captain Levi Challoner netted his 20th goal of the season for the students, whilst Dan Price and an own goal completed their scoring.

Talybont Reserves eased to a 9-0 win over Llanon in their Second Division Trophy group one match, with Chris Wylde leading the way with a hat-trick.

Anthony Vasquez and Jamie Evans both scored twice for Taly, and Brad Dowse and Sam Penfold also netted.
