LLANYSTUMDWY let slip a 2-1 half-time lead to surrender the Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd League points to Ogwen Tigers, who left Dwyfor Park as 3-2 winners.
This was the third meeting between these teams already this season, with the honours being split at one win apiece, and another close encounter was anticipated.
Llanystumdwy shrugged off an early goal, by Ogwen’s Mark Wilson after just four minutes, and their improvement was rewarded with replies by Darren Parry on 26 minutes and Kyle Williams on 39.
The second half had barely got under way, though, when the hosts conceded an own-goal, as Karl Antoniazzi deflected the ball into his own net on 47 minutes.
In the lively concluding stages, the winner could have come at either end, but Llanystumdwy were stunned on 80 minutes, when the referee awarded Ogwen a penalty, and Tomos Eames converted.
Leaders Trearddur Bay Bulls won again, for the ninth time in 10 outings, as they beat Caergybi 3-1 in their local derby.
Trearddur triumphed thanks to Justin Williams scoring on 15 minutes, Tom Hadley on 52 and Dave Webb on 80, whereas Nathan Lewis replied on 70.
Llangoed and Bethesda Athletic switched their match to the Anglesey club’s Tyddyn Paun ground, as Meurig Park was waterlogged, and a rousing home win was achieved by a 6-1 margin.
Ahead 2-0 at half-time, Llangoed piled up their half a dozen goals, with Wayne Thomas completing his hat-trick with goals scored on 19, 82 and 87 minutes.
A brace of goals was bagged by Sam Gregson on six and 67 minutes and Llion Roberts joined in on 80 minutes, while Bethesda were left with just Andy Clarke’s solitary reply on 50 minutes.
Two other scheduled Gwynedd League fixtures fell victim to the weather, including Glantraeth against Llanerchymedd and Talysarn Celts against Bro Goronwy.
Nefyn United should have hosted Llannefydd from the Welsh Alliance division two in the FAW Trophy third round, but the Cae’r Delyn pitch was waterlogged, and is now rescheduled for this Saturday.
