BONT got their campaign back up and running after a difficult time for the Club, as they hit back from two goals down to beat Padarn United 6-2 in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth District League division one.

Playing for the first time in over almost eight weeks, since the passing of manager Terry Davies, they faced a slightly depleted Padarn outfit on Saturday.

The away side, however, started on the front foot and were 2-0 up within 15 minutes, through Billy Williams and Steve Jones, and despite the home side creating a few decent scoring chances, they couldn’t find a way past the visiting keeper.

After more pressing, the home side finally got back into the game, as the returning Dewi Sion Evans found space in the box and fired into the roof of the net.

Five minutes later it was 2-2 after a simple move that was brilliantly executed when Evans put in Lee Jones, who powered past the defence and passed to Ben Lewis, who was there to slot home the equaliser.

The second half started with the home side taking the game to Padarn, and created chance after chance.

The pressure finally paid off when a brilliant ball from the influential Fergus Morris found Dion Davies, who drove in to the penalty box and fired a shot passed the keeper into the corner.

The away side didn’t really trouble keeper Trevor Jenkins in the second half, apart from a few half chances that went passed his post.

Bont sealed the points with 15 minutes to go as David Beck used his pace to time his run perfectly, after being put in on goal by Lee Jones, to calmly slot under the advancing goalkeeper.

The hosts and manager Warren Sedgwick were delighted to get back on track with a good home victory, which keeps them within six points of leaders Bow Street Reserves, with three games in hand on them.

Shaun Jones and Osian Rees-Jones both scored twice as Bow Street eased to a 6-1 win over Llanilar, with Joe Williams and Ian Evans also on the scoresheet. Shon Morgan scored the reply.

Tregaron Turfs are 10 points behind the league leaders, but with five games in hand, after they made a welcome return to action with a 4-0 win against lowly Penrhyncoch Reserves.

Penrhyn included first team players Jon Foligno and Cledan Davies in their starting side, and Tregaron had to work hard before securing a deserved victory.

Ifan Jones had a goal disallowed on five minutes for offside, and Penrhyncoch’s stand-in keeper had to make a number of excellent saves to keep the Turfs out.

Llyr Davies also had a number of opportunities to put Tregaron ahead, as Penrhyn sat back and defended well throughout the game.

Still goalless, Tregaron have another goal disallowed for offside on 70 minutes when Caradog Daniel found the net with his head.

The Turfs kept pressing, however, and they eventually broke the deadlock on 81 minutes when an inch-perfect Gareth Davies free kick hit the top right hand corner of the visitors net.

Carwyn Earey then quickly made it 2-0 to the Turfs, and Llyr Davies made it three - and these two strikers have scored 40 goals between them this season.

Caradog Daniel completed the scoring on 90 minutes with a well placed shot from the edge of the box.

Talybont’s match against Machynlleth Reserves was switched from Blaendolau to the University 3G pitch at Penglais, and the hosts came through for a 3-2 win.

Talybont raced into a three goal lead through Osian Thomas, with a brace, and Ben Byrne. Mach replied before the interval through Callum Page and James Roberts, but Talybont made the game safe in the second half, courtesy of a good strike by Daniel Jones.

In the Second Division Trophy, two goals from Simon Lovatt saw Llanon beat Llanilar Reserves 2-1.
