ABERYSTWYTH Town showed plenty of heart on Valentine’s night as a hat-trick from Alhagi Touray Sisay, plus two headed goals by Marc Williams, got pulses racing in a 5-3 win against Airbus UK Broughton at Park Avenue.

Replies from Kristian Platt and Oli Lanceley, with a late double, revived the Wingmakers, but a red card for Brady McGilloway three minutes from time ultimately sealed their fate.

Aber manager Mathew Bishop had to make changes to his starting line-up in the absence of Connor Roberts (suspended), Matty Jones (unwell) and Dave Thompson, with Shrewsbury Town loanee James Rowland and ex-Guilsfield ace Adam Davies both handed home debuts.

The hosts started well on a dry and mild evening, snapping away at every tackle and working hard to create chances, with Geoff Kellaway having an early shot blocked, and Rowland firing over the bar.

The impressive Alhagi Touray Sisay was a constant menace for the visitors, and he opened his account on 11 minutes. Wes Baynes sent in an excellent delivery from the left side, which was headed back by Adam Davies for the Spanish striker to slot home his first goal at Park Avenue.

Airbus threatened but the home defence stood form, and with two tall strikers to aim for, Aber always had an out ball. Baynes sent in a free kick from the left which scooted just wide of the post, and on 22 minutes Aber doubled the lead.

Marc Williams lobbed the ball in to livewire Touray, who touched deftly past visiting goalkeeper Dave Roberts to confidently score a deserved second goal.

Paulo Mendes headed just over minutes later for Aber, but home keeper Alex Pennock had to punch clear from Joe Palmer, and save Alex Darlington’s back header.

Touray slid in another shot for Roberts to save, but with Aber seemingly in control Platt put the cat amongst the pigeons in injury time when sneaking in at the far post to halve the deficit right on half time.

With the next goal vital, Aber remained resolute with Jenkins and Luke Boundford still strong at the back. Pennock gathered a free kick from George Hughes, but at the other end a Baynes free kick found Jenkins’ head, but keeper Roberts saved.

A couple of Kellaway crosses caused problems from the right, and a thrilling 50 yard run by Mendes deserved a goal, with Roberts again called into action. then, just before the hour, a lovely cross from Kellaway out on the right found skipper Williams, and he nodded home for 3-1.

The rapid Aaron Pomeyie then came on for a thrilling debut, and set up a goal almost with his first touch, dashing down the right and creating the chance for the impeccable Touray to seal his hat-trick.

James Rowland twice went close, before Baynes crossed for another Williams header at the near post for Aber’s fifth. Airbus responded with Niall Watson bringing a great block out of Jenkins, before substitute Lanceley reduced the arrears after being set up by Dan Edwards.

Two minutes later Edwards headed in Airbus’ third from Brady McGilloway’s excellent cross, and there was still time for McGilloway to be sent off on 87 minutes for a late tackle on Marc Williams.
