TREGARON Turfs repeated their league triumph over local rivals Bont with another 8-0 win to reach the quarter-finals of the Emrys Morgan Cup at Park Pantyfedwen last weekend.
After their defeat to Llanilar in the Central Wales Cup the previous week, the Turfs made a swift return to form as they raced into a two-goal lead inside seven minutes.
Top scorer Cledan Davies headed home a cross from Ryan Hurrel, and then Dylan Davies, playing centre forward for the first time this season, fired home a strike low and hard from 18 yards.
Former Aberystwyth Town player Cledan Davies completed his hat-trick with two more goals inside half an hour, and then Dylan Davies completed his brace just before half-time to make it 5-0.
With the game surely won, Turfs made a wholesale replacements in the second half, but it was soon 6-0 as Cledan Davies got his fourth goal, before being subbed.
With his first touch of the game, Carwyn Earey slotted home passed the keeper, but the introduction of Bont of veteran Glyndwr Hughes stabilised Bont for the last 20.
Tregaron, however, had the final say as captain Ifan Jones scored the eighth goal to set up a quarter-final tie at home to Lampeter on 15 February. The other fifth round ties are Dewi Stars versus Cardigan; Felinfach versus Newcastle Emlyn and Guilsfield Reserves v Brecon Corries.
• Penrhyncoch Reserves made progress into the second round of the Len and Julia Newman Memorial Cup with a 2-1 win over Aberdyfi at Cae Baker.
Iwan Richards had scored for Dyfi, to make it 1-1 at the break, but the visitors went down to 10 men for the second half, and Jack Barron completed a brace to win it.
In the other first round tie, Owen Roberts-Young scored the winning goal as Llanilar marched on with a close-fought 1-0 win against Aberystwyth University Reserves.
Bow Street Reserves marched on into the second round of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League Cup with a 6-0 win at Padarn United Reserves.
Osian Burrell scored twice for the Magpies, along with further goals from Ian Evans, Matty Williams, Stephen Harrison and Tom Williams to seal a convincing win.
In Cambrian Tyres League division two action, Guto Roberts and Dylan Evans scored for Llanilar Reserves in a 2-2 draw with Corris United, who scored through Osian Wells and Brian Jones.
Sam Davies scored four goals and Ben Holt netted a hat-trick as Penparcau Reserves hammered Aberystwyth University Thirds 13-0.
Jake Bush also weighed in with a brace for Arky, with Dan Pritchard, Steff Foulkes, Jake Button and Jordan Perry completing their scoring.
