LLYR Davies scored a hat-trick as Tregaron Turfs took the derby spoils in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one with a 5-2 home win over local rivals Bont.
Davies led the way as he took his tally to 15 goals in six games, with Rhun Garner and Gareth Davies, with an absolute screamer on his return, sealing their win.
Bont were looking to extend their unbeaten run, but straight form the off, Llyr Davies broke clear to slot home under goalkeeper Trevor Jenkins.
They had soon doubled their lead as five minutes later Davies’ shot deflected into the net off a defender.
It got worse still for Bont as Davies broke down the wing, and his cross went straight in at the back post for 3-0 after just 20 minutes.
Bont then started to string a few passes and forced a succession of corners, and when one wasn’t cleared enough, the ball back in saw Garin Evans leap highest to head in from six yards out.
Bont had a good spell, but couldn’t make the most of their pressure, before the Turfs got a penalty, but this time Jenkins got the better of Davies and saved well.
The interval came as a relief for Bont, and an already feisty affair got worse at the start of the second half as the visitors went down to 10 men with 35 minutes left.
Tregaron made the most of it as Garner converted to restore their three-goal lead.
Bont didn’t give up, and when Chris Wilkins was upended in the box, substitute Andrew Gilbert converted.
There was still time for Tregaron’s Gareth Davies to unleash an effort from 25 yards out into the top corner to seal a big win, as the Turfs went top of the table.
Mattie Davies scored a hat-trick on his debut as Penparcau made it six wins from seven games with a 6-1 win over Padarn United.
Mark Gornall, Andrew Gittins and Anthony Evans also got on the scoresheet, whilst Paul Keegan netted with a penalty for Padarn.
Ryan Edwards, Shon Morgans, Rhys Morgan and Dewi Evans earned Llanilar a 4-2 win over Penrhyncoch Reserves, in a match that saw both teams down to 10 men in the second half. Aneurin Thomas and Stan Richards scored the replies.
Talybont notched a 3-2 win over champions Bow Street Reserves, who slipped to their sixth successive defeat.
Jamie Evans opened the scoring early on, before further goals from Jamie Evans and Dylan Benjamin put the home team two goals clear.
Gwyn Jones scored twice for Street, but the hosts held on for their second win.
In division two, a brace from Luke Fox and singles by Nick Williams, Adam Ebery and Will Kendall earned Aberdyfi a 3-2 win over Llanon, with Justino Joseph netting both replies.
Goals from Ryan Hopkins, with a hat-trick, and Sion Anthony Jones earned Llanilar Reserves a 4-0 win at Padarn Reserves, whilst a Scott Wilson brace and a Nigel Mills goal earned Penrhyncoch Thirds a 3-2 away win against Borth Reserves.
