TREGARON Turfs staged a thrilling comeback to book their place in the second round of the Len and Julia Newman Memorial Trophy with a 3-2 win over Talybont at Park Avenue.

The Turfs were trailing 2-0 at the interval, but boosted by some tactical substitutions they fought back to secure progress in the second half with goals from Cledan Davies, Chris Wilkins and Dylan Davies.

Talybont had made a flying start and were two-up within the first 10 minutes through a scrappy goal from Jamie Barron, quickly followed by a neat finish by Mike Fitzpatrick from outside the box.

Penparcau Reserves also marched into the second round with a 4-0 win at Aberystwyth University Thirds on Saturday, with Sam Davies, Jake Bush, Chris Wylde and Keiran Duggan netting.

There was a thriller at Aberdyfi in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League Cup as visitors Corris United held their nerve to win on penalties, after the derby rivals finished 5-5 after extra-time.

Dyfi had scored doubles from George Richards and Tim Holt, and a Sean Fox penalty, but goals by man of the match Jake Hinge, George Cottam, Owain Kelly, Brian Jones and Jack Owen took it to penalties, and Corris edged through.

In division one action, a Guto Roberts goal earned Llanilar a 1-1 draw at Bow Street Reserves, who earned a point through Keiron Reynolds, whilst Jack Barron scored for Penrhyncoch Reserves, but they were beaten 2-1 away against Aberystwyth University Reserves.

Jasper Jones netted five goals for Dolgellau Reserves in an emphatic 13-0 win at Borth United in the Cambrian Tyres division two, with Tommy Redgrift and Nathan Thomas both netting twice, with goals from Mike Worsell, Darryn Jones, Kieran Jones and Christian Gonzalez.
