HAVING not played a league match in over a week, Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs had three games in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division two last week - and all three looked a tough match on paper.

The first fixture was at Mochdre Sports on Tuesday evening, and the Amateurs had to make changes to their side as players were unavailable to make the journey.

The 5-2 win, however, pleased all at the club, with Bryn Humphreys giving them the lead on 18 minutes, before Jason Phillips equalised prior to the half-time break.

Minutes into the second half the visitors were awarded a penalty and Bryn Humphreys converted from the spot, and five minutes later Iwan Jones made it 3-1.

On the hour Caerwyn Jones made it 4-1, but the home side made it 4-2 through Kai Davies with 10 minutes left to play.

Any hopes of a comeback were ended in the final minutes, however, when Keiron Ellis rounded off a deserved away win.

A tougher match at Penmaenmawr followed on Thursday evening, and once again the visitors had to make changes as five of their regulars were unavailable.

Lee Ellis netted all seven goals as the home side romped to an emphatic 7-0 win, with four goals in the first half, being followed by three more after the break.

On Saturday, Blaenau then took on third-placed Bodedern at Cae Clyd and in a thrilling finale they snatched a 4-3 win.

The visitors had the ball in the net on 12 minutes, but Steven Whitaker was ruled offside, whilst Bryn Humphreys also went close to scoring for the home side.

Sion Roberts gave them the lead on 23 minutes and some good defending saw the Quarrymen take an 1-0 interval lead.

Around the hour mark Bodedern scored twice through Whitaker and Aiden Clarke, and then came the final goal rush.

Blaenau’s Keiron Ellis levelled matters with a free kick, but Whitaker restored his side’s lead, before Ellis then made it 3-3.

Then the referee sent off both David Copsey and the visitors’ Brian Taylor, and in the last minute Bryn Humphreys dramatically scored the Blaenau’s winner.

Visiting keeper Kenny Hughes was also shown a red card following the winner.

• Elsewhere in division two, Prestatyn Sports moved to the top of the table as goals from Ron Dunn on 28 minutes, Ian Griffiths on 45 and Ian Dunn on 75 earned them a 3-1 win over Y Felinheli, who scored through Carwyn Dafydd on 53.

Josh Griffiths scored a last-minute winner as Amlwch Town beat high-flying Glan Conwy 1-0, whilst Gaerwen beat Mochdre Sports by the single goal, courtesy of Paul Bryant’s winner on 37 minutes.

Meliden beat Pentraeth 2-0, with Matthew Griffiths scoring twice, whilst Sam Jones scored four as Llannefydd beat Llanfairpwll 4-1, Kelvin Fraser replying.
