JD Cymru Premier champions Connah’s Quay Nomads, will play Alashkert of Armenia in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after the draw was made earlier today.

The Nomads will be home in the first leg of the tie, that will be played on 6/7 July at Park Avenue, Aberystwyth, with the second leg being played a week later in Armenia on 13/14 July.

Winners advance to the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round (draw at 11am on Wednesday); all losing sides progress to the UEFA Europa Conference League Champions Path second qualifying round (draw at 12.30pm on Wednesday).Park Avenue was designated as a UEFA Category 2 Stadium following a site visit in May.Club secretary Thomas Crockett said on Friday: “We are delighted and honoured to offer Park Avenue to our friends at Connah’s Quay for their first two European matches this season."Hosting Champions League football in particular is a major coup for the club, and this in itself will fund ground improvements which will ensure Park Avenue can host European matches for years to come.
