PWLLHELI were unable to stand in the way of unbeaten Llanrug United as the high-flying visitors triumphed 3-1 in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one last weekend.

Pwllheli put up a stubborn resistance, but on 57 minutes a deep throw by fullback Gruff Pari found Marvin Pritchard, who turned his opponent and laid the ball into the path of fellow midfielder Llion Jones to finish from 12 yards into the bottom corner of the net.

United doubled their lead on 71 minutes, as a superb interchange between Aaron Hughes, David Noel Williams and Jonathan Sadler, led to Sadler being released on goal and he finished well under the onrushing keeper with the outside of the boot.

Within a couple of minutes, Jonathan Sadler’s pin-point cross found striker Aaron Hughes at the far post, who volleyed into the top corner of the hosts’ net.

Pwllheli refused to give up, and they scored a late consolation goal on 87 minutes when a cross from the left looped over goalkeeper Dylan Roberts and was finished on the line by home substitute Lukas Baltovic.

David Maddock bagged both goals as hosts Llandudno Albion overcame Barmouth and Dyffryn United 2-0, to move within three points of their visitors in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one.

Maddock took 10 minutes to break the deadlock, but Barmouth were left to rue missed chances, before the same player sealed the points with his second on 75.

The trip was made more difficult for Carl Ryan’s team, with several players out, and playing on the unfamiliar 3G surface.

After Maddock’s opening goal the home side kept the ball for long periods, without creating many clear chances, but Barmouth also threatened, as Paul Lewis put a free kick over the crossbar, and George Sutherns and Shane Jones went close.

The second half saw Stephen Bratt head just over from a Daniel Griffith free kick, whilst a Dave Harding effort went just wide after Shane Jones and Paul Lewis had combined well on the edge of the box.

Barmouth keeper Tyler French was only called into action only a few times, as Stephen Bratt and Daniel Griffith were both solid in defence for the visiting side.

Maddock, however, scored his crucial second with 15 minutes to go, and Llandudno held firm for a hard-earned victory.

Penrhyndeudraeth meanwhile lifted themselves away from basement danger as second half goals from Huw Quaeck and Steven Jones earned them a 2-1 win at St Asaph City.City had led at the interval, with Jason Foulkes breaking the deadlock around the half-hour, but second half goals from Quaeck on 64 minutes and Jones on 75 secured a fourth league win.

Elsewhere, three goals in a seven-minute spell aroud the hour snatched Llanberis a dramatic 3-2 win over Trearddur Bay.

A Dillon Roberts penalty and Ryan Connolly strike put the Anglesey side two-up, but Ifan Mansoor, Tom Saynor and Gethin Wakeham grabbed the goals, which ensured the Darans moved up to third position.
