OLLIE Thorogood was the overall winner of the 2019 Cambrian News Aberystwyth 10K Race for the second year running, having braved very blustery conditions to finish in an excellent time of 33:56.

The Ceredigion man, who represents South West Road Runners, finished almost half a minute ahead of 2017 winner Tim Eveson of Builth and District Running Club, who finished second in 34:24, with Jamie Crawford of Brighton Hove third in 34:37.

Jenny Evans of Maldwyn Harriers was the first female in 42:21, followed Delyth Davies in 42:32 and Emma Matthews of Builth and District Running Club in 43:35.

Owain Schiavone of Aberystwyth AC was fourth overall in 34:57, with Edward Gronbech of Aberystwyth University Harriers claiming fifth in 34:59.

The top 10 places were completed by Edward Land of Aberystwyth AC sixth in 35:29; Gwion Roberts of Meirionnydd seventh in 35:33; James Farmer of South Derbyshire Road Runners eighth in 35:39; Matthew Golledge of Caerphilly Runners ninth in 36:09 and Gary Davies of Aberystwyth AC 10th in 36:13.

With a full entry of 750 runners, the 21st anniversary of the race, which is organised by Aberystwyth AC, was dedicated to the original race founder Carl Williams, who passed away last month.
