BALA made a very promising start to their new campaign in Swalec Division One North as they notched a comprehensive 48-7 home victory over COBRA, to leave them in good heart for the trip to take on Colwyn Bay this Saturday.

The mid Wales visitors, however, competed well, especially in the opening half - and they were still very much in the match at half-time.

A dominant 20 minute spell in the second half, however, saw Bala cross for four tries to secure a bonus point victory.

Talisman Rhydian Jones kicked two first-half penalties for the hosts, as reward for some good spells of pressure, and the only try of the half was scored by Bala’s Moi Dafydd to put them 11-0 up at the half-time interval.

The visitors, however, started the second-half brightly and they were right back in the game when Harry Jukes converted his own try inside the opening five minutes to bring them back to within a score.

Bala hit back strongly and when the Meifod side were reduced to 14 men with a player being sent to the sin bin, the hosts ruthlessly capitalised.

Ilan Rowlands crossed the whitewash for their second try of the game, and Jones then converted his own try to put Bala in firmly in control of the match.

Further tries from Owain Aled and Endaf Jones took the dominant hosts out of sight, before Jones crossed for his second try of the game and also added a penalty goal for his individual haul of 28 points to seal a very convincing win.
