DOLGELLAU completed their Division Two North West regular fixtures in fine style, with a 12-try feast at Bangor, to cement a play-off spot.

Dolgellau’s three-quarters looked menacing from the first whistle, and full-back Gerwyn Pugh crossed for their first try after only three minutes’ play. Skipper Gerwyn Thomas converted to put Dolgellau 0-7 ahead.

Bangor were more than a match for Dolgellau in the set-pieces, so the visitors moved the ball wide at every opportunity and tries came at regular intervals throughout the half, as No 8 Dylan Llewelyn, centre Gareth Hughes, full-back Gerwyn Pugh, with his second of the match, flanker Iwan Pugh, wing Rob Pugh and wing Rhys Lewis all went over for tries. Gerwyn Thomas added four further conversions to put Dolgellau 0-45 ahead at the interval.

Prop Rhys Roberts scored Dolgellau’s first try of the second half, before Bangor’s hard working forwards gained some reward for their efforts, with forward Gruff Tudor crossing for a try that was converted.

Dolgellau stalwart, No 8 Dylan Llewelyn, crossed twice in five minutes to complete his hat-trick, but Bangor never gave in and scored their second try from centre Calvin Williams, from a quickly taken penalty, that was also converted.

Dolgellau rounded matters off with two late tries by Danny Evans, who raced the length of the pitch to touch down, and wing Rob Pugh crossed for his second in the last move of the match.

Skipper Gerwyn Thomas was successful with three second half conversions to complete the scoring at 14-76.
