A DRAMATIC last-gasp try from winger Daniel Trahearn clinched a 20-18 WRU Plate tie for Bro Ffestiniog - just as it seemed that Dolgellau had won it with a Gwion Jones penalty three minutes from time.
On a glorious day, but with a difficult cross-wind, both sides started nervously, with neither side managing to secure tidy possession on their own ball at the set-pieces, and chances few and far between.
With six first half minutes remaining, however, Bro sprang into gear, and after a period where they were pressing hard, the ball was switched out to right and No 8 Gethin Jones went over in the corner.
Prop Jordan Rye converted from the touchline to put the visitors 0-7 ahead.
Five minutes later Bro were back in the Dolgellau red zone, and this time play switched left, and full-back Dewi Atherton gathered his own chip ahead to sprint home, and make it 0-12 at the interval.
Bro were dealing comfortably with all the home side could muster, but the match turned dramatically in favour of the hosts with 15 minutes remaining.
Dolgellau skipper Rhys Roberts had already come close, but with Dolgellau still pressing, wing Dafydd Ellis broke free and centre Gareth Hughes was in good support on the outside to go over in the corner, for their first try of the season.
Then, straight from the re-start, scrum half Lewis Jones made a searing break and his neat off-load to flanker Tim Jones saw the youngster sprint home for his first senior try. Stand-off Gwion Jones converted, and Dolgellau were on level terms at 12-12, to set up a frantic finish.
A Gwion Jones penalty then put Dolgellau 15-12 ahead with nine minutes remaining, but Jordan Rye equalised for the visitors with only five minutes to go.
Urged on by the now vociferous home crowd, a Marius Jones surge upfield saw Dolgellau awarded a penalty, which stand-off Jones slotted over to make it 18-15 with less than three minutes to go.
Surely there was no time for Bro to respond, but a loose Dolgellau drop out was gathered by man of the match Huw Parry, who ran through the home cover to find wing Daniel Trehearn to win it in dramatic fashion for the visitors, and this time there was no time to respond.
