PWLLHELI kept up their winning ways at home, making it four out of four with a 34-13 win against Abergele on Saturday.
Given the atrocious conditions, it was not until an hour before kick off that the referee finally declared Pwllheli’s Division One North match against Abergele would go ahead.
Though the pitch was heavy, the promised gale force winds thankfully did not materialise and it is a testament to the support that Pwllheli generate that a sizeable crowd turned up to support their team.
Having won the toss, Abergele decided to play with the gusty wind at their backs in the first period and they started well with chances to go ahead, but they failed to convert a penalty opportunity after only two minutes.
Pwllheli responded positively, and after just eight minutes a raking touch-finder took them into the Abergele 22.
Winning the lineout, Pwllheli set up a rolling maul which drove inexorably towards the opposition try line with the hosts’ number eight Tom Billington Parry eventually crossing over for the opening try. The conversion attempt drifted wide.
