NEWCASTLE Emlyn rugby star Scott Williams has set his sights on a Twickenham triumph after his side thumped Scotland to get their NatWest Six Nations campaign off to a flying start.

Wales’ most recent victory at Twickenham was a famous 28-25 triumph in the 2015 World Cup - but England have won five of their last six Tests against Wales, including the last three in a row.

Williams started at 13 in the World Cup - just as he is set to do on Saturday - but he did not feature in the 2014 and 2016 Six Nations defeats at Twickenham.

The Scarlets centre also famously assured himself a place in Welsh rugby folklore by scoring a 50-metre breakaway try that downed England on home turf during the 2012 Six Nations tournament.

His dramatic 75th-minute touchdown secured Wales the Triple Crown and also underpinned a second Grand Slam of Warren Gatland’s coaching reign that arrived just three weeks later.

Wales were outsiders on that February afternoon, and the same will apply this weekend, especially as England boast a 14-match unbeaten Six Nations home record since Williams weaved his magic.

“Another one of those memories would be nice,” Williams said. “It is a long time ago, too long. It is going to be a different challenge from Scotland, but we have won there before and it is definitely do-able.

"We know it is going to be a step up, we will not get as many chances so we need to make sure we take them."

Wales made a dream start to the 2018 Six Nations as they crushed Scotland 34-7 in a bonus-point win at the Principality Stadium.

It meant that Gatland claimed his 50th win as Wales coach in a match that marked the 10th anniversary of his first match in charge - and it was also Wales’ 50th win in the expanded Six Nations tournament.

“It was a good way to start the tournament," said Williams, a former pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi in Llandysul.

"We showed glimpses of some really good stuff, but we left a couple of tries out there if we are being harsh.

“I am fortunate enough to have played in this competition a few times and know how important the first game is in giving you something to build on. I said in the autumn we were changing the way we play, but it does not happen overnight. It is starting to pay off now.”

England have made two changes from the side that beat Italy 46-15, including Danny Care stepping in for the injured Ben Youngs at scrum-half. The other switch is at outside centre, with Jonathan Joseph replacing Ben Te’o, who drops to the bench.

Meanwhile Warren Gatland has named the same starting XV that comprehensively beat Scotland on the opening weekend. Wing George North is among the replacements after impressing last weekend for Northampton Saints.
