A BEACH clean has uncovered an out-of-the-world artefact.

A tiny spaceman, still in excellent condition despite being manufactured nearly 60 years ago, was uncovered by Cambrian Beach Guardians in Penmaenpool in recent weeks.

11 volunteers cleared the high tide line at Penmaenpool along the toll road in difficult boggy ground, collecting nearly 300 kilogrammes of waste.

One of the star finds was the plastic space explorer.

“A statement form the guardians said: “Remember our little spaceman? He was “born” in 1959 as part of a range issued by Kellogg’s UK & Ireland Rice Krispies!

!He is one of the oldest pieces of plastic we have found which is exciting and worrying in equal quantities.

“The lack of deterioration in his detail is a stark reminder of just what plastic is doing to the environment.”
