RESCUERS have found a body following a search of the River Dyfi to find a missing fisherman.

Dyfed Powys have confirmed that a body was recovered from the river on Monday morning following a three-day search.

A spokesperson for the police said: “Dyfed Powys Police received a call at 10.35am on Saturday 5 September reporting a 75-year-old male missing in the Machynlleth area.

“The man had last been seen Friday evening out fishing along the river Dyfi.

“An extensive search was conducted over the weekend and police would like to thank all the agencies involved including the Mid and West Wales Fires and Rescue Service, H.M Coastguard, Aberdyfi Mountain Rescuse Team and members of the public.

Sadly the body of a male was found this morning, Monday 7 September.

“He has not yet been formally identified. They family of the missing person has been advised.”
