AROUND 30 firefighters are continuing to tackle a large fire in Borth this evening.

Fire crews from across Mid and West Wales and North Wales Fire Service are on the scene to tackle the fire which broke out at around 3.30pm this afternoon.

Crews from Aberdyfi, Aberystwyth, Machynlleth, Aberaeron, Tregaron and New Quay are all on the scene as well as a water bowser from Llandrindod Wells.

Local eyewitnesses say they were asked by emergency services to move away from the scene, as a large plume of dark smoke could be seen rising from the village.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We were called by the fire service at around 3.40pm to a large fire at a property in Borth. Officers are at the scene.”
