It will mark the culmination of an extraordinary fundraising drive by the Aberaeron Town Improvements Committee which, boosted by main sponsors Volac, eventually realised around £40,000.
The handover – during which the brand new Volvo XC60 will be officially blessed by the Mid and West Wales Fire Service chaplain – will take place at 4.30pm; doors open at 4pm.
The appeal was launched on 23 March, 2017 with the aim of raising £20,000 for a new vehicle because the existing one was no longer fit for purpose.
“From the start we received massive support from the community as a whole to multi-national companies such as Volac, and from the man and woman on the street to holidaymakers,” said a spokesman.
“Volac contributed a huge amount of money to the appeal.
“They had received first-hand experience of the importance of the first responder unit when two of their staff were injured.
“We cannot thank them enough for their generosity.”
Fundraisers recalled the pensioner who donated the last remaining £3 from her pension as first responders had helped her friend; the holidaying Kent firefighter and former first responder who, realising the importance of the vehicle in such a rural area, gave £30; and the woman selling raffle tickets on carnival day whose life had been saved by Aberaeron first responders 10 weeks earlier after she suffered a heart attack.
