Two walkers rescued from Cader Idris have been described as “unprepared for the environment” and "very lucky".

The men, from Usk, had to be rescued by Aberdyfi Search & Rescue yesterday afternoon.

The rescue team received a call to help from Dyfed-Powys Police at 2.30pm.

Team volunteers found the first man near the bottom of the Minffordd path.

Shortly after that, the second man was found higher up the same path.

Both were safe and well and everyone was safely off the mountain by 5pm.

A team spokesperson said: "The men, from Usk, seemed unprepared for the environment and the prevailing and predicted weather conditions on Cader Idris.

“It would appear that they were very lucky that events did not take them to a less favourable outcome.”
