THE seaside resort of Aberaeron is flying the flag for Ceredigion after being nominated as one of the top 10 best places in Wales by members of the public.
Wales’ Best Places is a competition run by the Royal Town Planning Institute Cymru, to celebrate some of our most attractive and inspiring places and the role planners have played in helping to protect or shape them for Welsh communities.
The first place in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and stunning landscapes are among the best places in Wales as voted for by the public.
The top 10 has been whittled down by the Wales’ Best Places judging panel from over 200 nominations, and Aberaeron is the sole Ceredigion town among the finalists which also include Cardiff Bay Inner Harbour and The Gower.
The public now have until Friday, 30 September, to vote for their favourite, which will be crowned Wales’ Best Place.
Aberaeron county councillor Elizabeth Evans said she was unsurprised to learn of her hometown’s nomination.
There are three ways to vote: Submit a vote online in English or Welsh by visting http://www.rtpi.org.uk/the-rtpi-near-you/rtpi-cymru/wales-best-places; email it to [email protected] or Tweet your vote, tagging @WalesBestPlaces.
