MONTGOMERYSHIRE AM Russell George has pledged his support for Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal 2018 in an effort to help Marie Curie nurses provide care and support to people living with a terminal illness.

Mr George visited Morrisons in Newtown on Saturday, 10 March, to help raise funds for the appeal, Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraising campaign, now in its 32nd year.

As well as lending his support to the appeal alongside fellow volunteer Barbara Norbury, Mr George is also encouraging people in Montgomeryshire to help the charity raise more money than ever before by simply giving a donation and wearing a Marie Curie daffodil pin, available from volunteers across Wales, from sponsors such as Morrisons, Superdrug, Homebase and many more.

After lending a hand with the fundraising efforts, Mr George said: “The money raised from the Great Daffodil Appeal will help Marie Curie nurses provide care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones, in homes across Wales so I was delighted to help support the appeal again this year.

“The work which Marie Curie do is vitally important to the community and I am glad to support them as much as I can, to help them provide more care and support to people living with a terminal illness.

“Each two-hour collection slot pays for two hours of nursing care on average so please do contact Marie Curie if you would be able to spare an hour or two.”
