Having spent a few days away in the Barmouth area, I too am as amazed as your readers in the Cambrian News at the parking fees.
Who at Gwynedd Council thought it a good idea to impose £5.50 as the lowest option? As your readers say, people don’t stay for 12 hours.
They want to shop and, in my case, visit the towns. Well I am sorry, I did not pay £5.50 to the council.
I either found a street parking area or moved on to somewhere else – which is just the point of your readers.
People are not going to stop and pay out that money.
That means local businesses/ communities lose out big time and I imagine I am not the only one not stopping but going elsewhere.
It’s the local people/traders hit hardest. Not the tourists, because we have the choice to move on.
