Madam,

So, Gwynedd Council is clearly not bothering to get lifeguards for Barmouth or anywhere else - in the short term or any other time. The reasons? Time and resources. This is an abomination.

The time should be now to save lives and how can the council say it can’t afford this lifesaving measure? The boys who lost their lives may have still been here if there were lifeguards on the shore.

The cost for this should come from central government if it can’t be met here. And this problem should be solved without delay.

If this tragedy happens again, which it could any day, will the time be found to deal with this urgent problem? And are people’s lives not worth the cost?! Think again before tragedy strikes again.

Yours etc,

Jean Miles, Harlech.
