BRYNHOFFNANT author Idris Reynolds is celebrating Welsh culture in London to celebrate St David’s Day.
The Welsh Book of the Year 2017 winner will join Welsh-speaking Londoners to celebrate the saint’s day, and will take part in a special event based on his prize-winning book, Cofio Dic: Darn o’r Haul Draw yn Rhywle. This biography celebrates the life of his friend, the acclaimed poet Dic Jones from Blaenannerch.
The evening at the Welsh Church of Central London on Friday, 2 March, is part of the Wales Week in London event organised by the Welsh Government to promote Wales in the UK capital.
Idris has travelled all over Wales sharing anecdotes from his friendship with Dic and facts and stories spanning from his early years to the end of his life. He follows with honesty the twists and turns in Dic’s career and discusses some sources of his inspiration for his poetry
For the first time ever, Idris who is a respected poet in his own right, will be joined on stage by Dic’s daughter Delyth Wyn, an actor from the Llangoedmor area.
“This is the first time for me to take my talk on Dic Jones outside Wales and I am delighted that Delyth will be accompanying me,” said Idris.
“Delyth is a talented actor – she will bring an element of performance to my talk which will be something completely new to offer London audiences.
“I hope we will bring a little bit of home to those Welsh-speakers who live and work in London.”
