BWCABUS is celebrating its eighth birthday.

The award-winning bus service first began operating in the Newcastle Emlyn and Llandysul area in 2009.

Since then it has grown to serve even more rural communities across North Carmarthenshire and South Ceredigion; and more recently in February this year a new service was launched in Pembrokeshire, thanks to a grant of almost £1.8m under the LINC project.

Tailored to the needs of its passengers, journeys can be pre-booked allowing people to travel between local towns and villages within the zone or connect to the main line bus services to travel to places such as Aberystwyth, Carmarthen, Ceredigion, Haverfordwest and Fishguard.

It operates Monday to Saturday and also has a number of fixed route timetable services on certain days for people to hail and ride.

Carmarthenshire’s executive board member for the environment Cllr Hazel Evans, said: “I am delighted that Bwcabus is celebrating its eighth birthday and is now serving even more communities across the three counties giving people living in rural areas easier access to healthcare and other key services as well as employment and training opportunities.

“I would like to congratulate the team on all their hard work in extending and improving the service which is providing a valuable contribution to rural life and the local economy.”
