Orchestral pop outfit, The Ollie West Band, will perform in Dolgellau next week.

Legendary singer-songwriter Dean Friedman has teamed up with The Ollie West Band and will perform at Theatr Fach in Dolgellau on Thursday, 13 June.

Formed in 2014 by singer, songwriter and pianist Ollie West, this Manchester-based ensemble met on the Popular Music Degree course at the Royal Northern College of Music.

They are creating unique music that transcends genre and the generic ideas of the pop band.

With influences as far spread as Elbow and Billy Joel to the Cinematic Orchestra and Claude Debussy, the combination of Ollie, Ashley Garrod on bass, Pete Leaver on drums, James Cooke on guitar and a plethora of classically trained musicians create an instantly recognisable sound which has been praised by the likes of Neil McCormick and Dean Friedman.

With two singles under their belt, the band have just released their debut album, Time Stood Still.

Recorded at the legendary Blueprint Studios in Manchester, the fruits of their labour shine through after years on the road.
