PLANS to reopen a railway station at Bow Street have moved a step closer after a study found that it wouldn’t require major changes to timetables.

An independent study requested by the Welsh Government looked at whether adding an additional stop on the line would require significant changes to the current timetable, but concluded that with a shorter turnaround at Aberystwyth train station, there would be no difficulties. The news has been welcomed by campaigners, including Ceredigion AM Elin Jones and Bow Street councillor Paul Hinge, who have been lobbying for the new station as a way of improving local public transport links.

Ms Jones said that reopening a station at Bow Street would help cut the amount of traffic on the roads as the train service would provide a reliable transport link between Bow Street and Aberystwyth.
