A CEREDIGION bus campaigner has said he is preparing to give up on his bid to improve connection times for TrawsCymru services at Aberystwyth because of a lack of official support.
Dr John McTighe has spent a year battling to get the authorities to change the evening departure time of the T1 service from Aberystwyth to allow a connection with the T2 service which is scheduled to arrive in Aberystwyth as the T1 leaves to head to Carmarthen.
Despite a string of Freedom of Information requests to the Welsh Government, TrawsCymru and local councils, Dr McTighe, who lives in Llanrhystud, said he has received little backing for his proposal of a five-minute change in departure of the T1 to enable a workable connection to be put in place.
Dr McTighe has previously accused authorities of being more interested in providing connections in north Wales ahead of mid Wales, and accused Ceredigion council’s transport Cabinet member, Cllr Alun Williams, of failing to stand up for better services in Ceredigion.
Cllr Williams said while he could understand the frustration, there were important reasons why a change could not be made saying the risk it would provide in affecting the link with the train service meant it was not possible, and that there are other buses that head south.
