FORTY new jobs are being created in Tywyn thanks to the growing interest in slimming bars.

Local manufacturing business Brighter Foods has expanded its production line after winning a contract to create cereal bars for Slimming World.

The news will come as a great relief to many residents after the town suffered a relentless series of body blows over the last 12 months including the relocation of the town’s Royal Mail Sorting Office to Machynlleth, the closure or imminent closure of two of the town’s banks and the loss of registry services in Tywyn.

Recently awarded a special award for contribution to Gwynedd’s economy, Brighter Foods have opened their second factory line which produces acclaimed healthy snack foods.

As well as securing the contract with Slimming World, Brighter Foods will also see its own brand, Wild Trail bar, on the shelves in Tesco stores across the country later this month.

Managing director Robin Williams said: “We’re really proud and excited to expand our site and create more jobs for the local Tywyn community.

“Thanks to the whole team for the tremendous efforts in getting us to where we are today which will enable us to grow even further and create more jobs for Tywyn in the future.”
