THE boss of a housing association which controversially merged with Cantref in August earns a salary of over £130,000, it has been revealed.
The salary of Anne Hinchey, chief executive of Wales and West Housing Association, which operates in Ceredigion after it merged with the Newcastle Emlyn-based housing association Cantref in August, was controversially leaked by an Assembly Member last week.
With a salary of £133,000 in the 2015/16 financial year, Mrs Hinchey was the fifth highest earner of all housing association chiefs prior to the merger.
The figures were revealed by Plaid Cymru AM Neil McEvoy, who tweeted an image of the figures presented in an Assembly report headed ‘restricted’ and annotated with the words: ‘And people think politicians get all the money’.
A spokesperson for Wales & West Housing said: “WWH is aware of the activity on social media by Neil McEvoy AM on this issue but any breach of National Assembly rules is of course a matter for the Assembly.
“As regards the salary of our CEO, this is a matter of public record and is contained within our annual accounts, which are published on our website. We do not comment on the remuneration of any individual members of staff.”
