COFFEE shop chain Caffè Nero has confirmed that it is looking to open a store in Aberystwyth.

A company spokesperson said that, while no agreements had yet been reached, Caffè Nero was in talks with a landlord about a potential property in Aberystwyth, but could not say any more than that.

The company said it hoped that a deal could be struck within the next fortnight when the chain would be able to reveal plans for an Aberystwyth shop.

The spokesperson said: “At this point in time, we are still in detailed discussions with the landlord, but hoping that final agreements will be in place within the next couple of weeks.”

If Caffè Nero agrees a deal for a shop premises, it will become the latest national coffee shop chain to open in Aberystwyth, with the town already having Costa Coffee, Starbucks, Coffee Number One.

There are also numerous independent cafés and plans to open a cafe quarter next to the railway station.
