ABERYSTWYTH police are investigating a spate of burglaries and attempted break-ins on the same night last week.
The Cambrian News understands that J’s Garage in Llanbadarn Fawr, Wynford Williams second-hand car dealership and Hertz Car Rental’s shared offices and Ow’s Cabs, all in Glanyrafon Industrial Estate, as well as a residential property at Brynrheidol, Llanbadarn Fawr, were all targeted by would-be burglars on the evening of Monday, 7 March.
Having watched CCTV footage showing one man trying to kick open his office door, Jamie Lockyer, owner of J’s Garage, told the Cambrian News that, although he could only see one person in the video footage, he could make out that he was “shouting” to another person out of shot.
“I came in and noticed the door had boot marks on it so I went to look at the CCTV,” said Mr Lockyer, who lives in Llwyn Prysg, near Penrhyncoch.
“They got into the compound over the fence and tried to kick my office door in before they gave up and left.
“I know there was one person in my yard, but there was someone else there because he can be seen shouting at someone else in the CCTV.”
Mr Lockyer said his garage was targeted at 11.30pm and he was aware that other businesses were targeted earlier in the night by the culprits, one of whom Mr Lockyer said he recognised on the CCTV, and that he was sure what they were after.
He said: “They also targeted Ow’s Cabs and a house in Brynrheidol."
