BUSINESSES in Porthmadog have been issued a call to arms in a bid to re-establish the town’s chamber of trade.

An open meeting has been arranged in the Sportsman Hotel at 6.30pm on Thursday, 18 January in the hopes of giving businesses in the area a “strong, united voice”.

Currently Pete Bennett is chair of the chamber but there are no other members.

Pete is moving from the area and is hoping to pass on the mantle and see the group returned to its former prestige.

“Businesses are a very important part of the community of Porthmadog and it is essential that they have a strong group to voice opinions on their behalf,” said Pete.

“We would be very grateful if businesses could attend the meeting so that we can establish a strong working group to put the chamber on a sound footing for the future of Porthmadog.

“A new chair and secretary could be voted in and the group set up again properly.

“It’s important for any town to have a united voice for the retail sector.”
