CILGERRAN Castle in the Teifi Valley received 2,082 visitors in September, a 12 per cent increase on the previous year, according to new figures released by the Welsh Government.
The figures show that over the 30-day period, more than 130,000 visitors chose to explore historic sites run by Cadw across the country.
The figures were released after a month in which the public was offered free entry to more than 20 popular historic attractions, to mark the end of the successful Open Doors event.
More than 20,000 tickets were made available to the public over the last weekend in September and 19,536 people registered.
No fewer than 81 per cent of attendees rated their visit as ‘excellent’, while 16 per cent reported their visit to be ‘very good’.
