Tenovus Cancer Care has reopened its shop in Aberystwyth town centre.

The latest shop from Wales’ leading cancer charity is operating over two floors on Great Darkgate Street, where it previously ran a shop until June 2017.

An opening event was attended by the mayor of Aberystwyth, Cllr Mari Turner, and new Tenovus Cancer Care chief executive Judi Rhys.

Jenny Langley, Tenovus Cancer Care head of retail, said: “We were very sad to leave Aberystwyth two years ago following the end of our lease on the property so it gives us great pleasure to return not just to the town, but to the same building.

“The new landlord, Joseph Evans, has made a number of significant renovations to the building to make it a modern retail space.

“This will be the first Tenovus Cancer Care shop to trade over two floors, so we’re all very much looking forward to welcoming customers old and new to the revamped shop.

“We have a great team of staff and volunteers in place and we are delighted to finally be able to open the doors to the public.”

Mr Evans is confident the newly opened shop will be a success and hopes Tenovus Cancer Care will be a long-term tenant in the heart of Aberystwyth.

He said: “I’m happy to invest in the shop because this is another good boost for the town, bringing in jobs and volunteering opportunities.

“We have a good mix of local and chain shops in town and people can get everything they need.”
