Clarks shoe shop will be returning to Aberystwyth high street in the coming weeks.
Wayne D’Arcy of Happy Feet Shoe Shop in Oswestry says he is looking to reopen the Clarks store on Great Darkgate Street which would create up to six new jobs.
Speaking to the Cambrian News, Mr D’Arcy said: “We are hopeful the shop can reopen in a matter of weeks rather than months.
“Our plans are to reopen in the same shop as the old store.
“There are just a few things to confirm with Clarks before we can go ahead.
“My son went to Aberystwyth University and we know the area rather well.”
Mr D’Arcy has been running various shoe shops since the 1980s and is hopeful the Aberystwyth store can reopen in time for the summer and the busy August period before children return to school for the new academic year.
The news that the store was reopening was posted on social media with Mr D’Arcy appealing for job hunters to get in touch.
The post said: “You should be friendly, active and full of beans and retail experience would be a bonus.
“All the positions are part time from 10 to 28 hours per week but there should be the opportunity for extra hours if you want.

Clarks confirmed that the Aberystwyth store would close in February after fixtures and fittings were removed from the Great Darkgate Street store.
A company spokesperson at the time said: “We can confirm that our store on Great Darkgate Street, Aberystwyth, will be closing.
"We have a strong duty of care to our employees and will ensure they are fully supported as they now go through a period of consultation.”
