After a 12-month delay over listed building concerns, the go-ahead has finally been given for plans to install a new cash machine in Machynlleth.
An application for the new cash machine at Mr News was initially submitted over 12 months ago, before that was withdrawn and a new application submitted.
Since then Powys Council had been waiting for approval from CADW before it could issue a decision notice allowing the installation to go ahead. That has now happened and a Powys Council spokesperson told the Cambrian News that approval had now been granted, a decision which has been welcomed by local councillor Michael Williams who had been critical of the delay.
Machynlleth mayor Cllr Monica Atkins also welcomed the news, saying: “I’m over the moon. It’s very important that we have this extra ATM because Machynlleth relies on it and especially it will give a boost to the market on Wednesday.”
“Lately some of the machines have been running out of money, so people didn’t have money to buy from the stalls and the stall holders were very concerned.”
A spokesperson for Powys Council added: “I can confirm we received confirmation of approval from CADW and have issued a decision notice.”
