DIGITAL Gwynedd has helped transform Llyn-based jewellery maker Katy Mai Webster’s business thanks to the Superfast Wales project.
Katy Mai makes hugely popular unique porcelain and silver jewellery that is reminiscent of the details of nature. Each piece is individually handmade using traditional ceramic processes. But being a self-confessed ‘technophobe’, she needed help improving the digital side of her business.
As a small business owner Katy attended a Business Wales Website Workshop hoping to improve her website. Previously her website had been very basic and had to direct people out of her website in order to shop online. At the workshop she learnt that 55 per cent of small businesses attract more customers by being online, and a good website looks professional, will make your business visible, help you compete, attract new customers and win new business.
Katy said: “After attending the workshop I learnt there was a much better platform available for me to use, which also allowed me to have an online shop on the website. Since making these changes sales through my website have tripled.”
There are many different workshops available from Superfast Business Wales. You could choose the Social Media Workshop which teaches you how to reach more customers and boost sales with a social media strategy or go on the Search Engine Optimisation Workshop to learn how to get to the top of search engine rankings to win new customers and boost sales.
